If there was a brand or marketing book I wish I had written, this would be the one. This book has been beautifully written. It has humour, wisdom and insight.
And rather than trying waste time telling you how to build something unique it lays down a road map that shows you where you are going wrong. And for me this is far more valuable. After all, being uniqueness means you incomparable, a once off that is so different to anything else.
How can you possibly have a technical formula to be incomparable?
As a key driving force behind Nike and Starbucks brands, Scott Bedbury has serious brand credibility. That alone makes it worth picking up his book, A New Brand World.
But for me his 8 principles are the guidelines to be incomparable. I have listed the below the video review. Enjoy – and let me know what you think:
Eight Principles for Achieving Brand Leadership in the 21st Century from A New Brand World:
- Relying on brand awareness has become marketings fool’s gold.
- You Have To Know it before you can grow it. Genetic Code
- Just cos you can does not mean you should
- Get past product only relationships – emotion
- Everything matters – brand environmentalism
- All brands need good parents – leadership
- Big does not have to be bad
- Relevance, simplicity and humanity – not techno – will distinguish the future
