About The Michael Cowen

Michael’s last real job was about ten years ago. After setting up and establishing the Industrial and Trade Marketing Departments and looking after the non-Plascon branded FMCG products, he got bored and resigned.

This boredom triggered a lot of action for Michael. The idea that people should be bored at work, doing something that was done for the sake of numbers got to him. He also saw the impact it had on staff and customers, and the frustration and waste it caused.

With two partners, he successfully established Perspective, an organisational culture business that looked at developing a meaningful culture and staff happiness.

After selling Perspective, he set up a Context Branding that took these ideas of culture and staff happiness to a brand level to create customer happiness.

Then marketing changed. Context was remoulded into RaveTopia after a meeting with a group of brand managers who did not understand what customer happiness was about.

They only understood the practicalities and technicalities of traditional media and communication. There had been no new thinking in over 20 years. The idea of engagement and conversations were just buzz words with no application in the “real marketing” world.
